Cold-blooded Lily/Severus excerpt and theory about wizard addresses

“Happy Valentine’s Day Lil-” oh my god! I just walked into the Room of Requirement to give my lovely girlfriend Lily her Valentine’s Day gift to find her making out with another man. James Potter to be exact. He’s been lusting after her since first year, but she assured me that she didn’t like him. Clearly she lied.
“What are you doing here, Snivellus?” James snarls.
“I should be asking you Potter, you’re the one kissing my girlfriend!”
“He’s doing no such thing Snape,” Lily butts in, “I’m not your girlfriend anymore, stay away from me!”
I quickly turn and leave them, the bouquet of flowers bearing Lily’s name fall to the floor from my limp fingers as I hasten to depart. I did not leave fast enough, and she must have glimpsed the first of many tears sliding down my cheeks.

That is definitely the most cold-blooded break-up Lily/Severus scene I've seen.

Also, I found myself wondering earlier today about wizarding forms and addresses and things.  What if their house was Unplottable?  What would be their equivalent of an address?  So I came to the theory that Floo fires have a sort of ID number, along with an official name.

Just out of curiosity, what fic(s) got you into Lily/Severus? I ask because I would say that I didn't like the pairing, except that maybe it's because I've never read a good one.

Most pairings that I've said I'd never read turned out to be ones I really like if they're written right. So do you have any suggestions/recs?

The first Lily/Severus fic I ever read - and the one that got me hooked on the ship - was about the fourth fanfic I ever read, period. I had just wandered into fandom, hadn't found any big site yet, but somehow managed to find a smaller site that had about a dozen fics. It's so funny to recall my reaction...I was amazed that authors had such insight and were bold enough to write alternate stories about Harry Potter, and I felt so confused when I read a story that wasn't very good... Anyway, the Lily/Severus fic wasn't very good either, in retrospect, but I was still so new to fanfiction that I took everything seriously, and it blew my mind. Its basic story structure can be faintly seen in my own story now, though mine has become a lot more intense.

Anyway - recs. I have to still say There Is No Such Place (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/728988/1/) by [Unknown site tag] is the best. But it's an abandoned WIP, and...she left off at a very, very bad spot. Not for the ship, but just in terms of mortal peril. However, the relationship was handled in an incredible way - it rivals none, in my opinion.

There's another one I just found recently, called Dark Side of the Moon. It's also a WIP, about six chapters so far, but it looks very promising, and the author swears she'll finish it.

That's it for chaptered stories, really. You can see my profile page (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/307035/) on fanfictionDOTnet for my list of favorite stories...most of them are Lily/Severus. They're one-shots, though, and for the most part not a good way to be introduced to Lily/Severus. I'd probably only really recommend 16 and 19 to you.

Other than that...yeah, sad as it is, No Such Place is the ultimate best, though Dark Side of the Moon really looks like it has potential. I'm liking the way it's being set up.

You're welcome. If you really want to read well-done Lily/Severus, if you want to find out exactly what is so excellent about it, and if you're masochistic, go for No Such Place. ;-)
