lavivi: scan from Hellsing manga of Integra and Alucard (older!Draco)

A long time ago, I asked around for the best Draco/Ginny story.  One was recommended to me, but I had very great difficulty in getting to it.  It was only located on a Yahoo Group.  Only recently did I manage to access it, and by then I had already read The Very Secret Diary, which is by the same author - Arabella, though she co-wrote the one I was looking for with another girl.

It's called Rising From Ashes.  There was apparently a prequel to it, that I quickly realized I had already read.  I was not impressed by the prequel - Arabella is a brilliant writer, but like Cassie, she had a beginning.

There seems to be three volumes to Rising From Ashes, and I've already finished the first one - Schooldays, Volume One.  It concerns their fifth year.  The second volume only has three chapters, simply entitled Letters.  I'm on the middle chapter there now.

The beginning chapters of the first volume weren't impressing either, but I believe she's improving.  I'm starting to feel the power of the relationship more, at least.  The Quidditch scene where he sits behind her was particularly brilliant.  It does put proper, maybe almost too much, emphasis on the danger of their relationship.

Potential link.

More updates to come.

Have come to an excellent, excellent quote in the story.

Draco got a reply letter from Ginny, stating she would like to try to have a secret relationship.

Draco stepped to the side of the road, into a shadowy hollow between two shops, and he read Ginny's letter again. He read it until it had burnt into his memory. And then, with a terrible wrench in his heart, he tore it into tiny shreds and scattered them in different places as he walked towards the Lighthouse. Her yes. He had thrown it away. But he had been given no choice.

That night, at the Manor, Draco burnt an old book of curses belonging to his father. It wasn't the most satisfying retaliation; when his father noticed it gone, he would only blame a servant.

Draco didn't care. For everything of hers that he lost from now on, his father would lose something too.

OH MY GOD.  This is a beautiful love story.

I'm lightheaded.

This - is sheer brilliance.

It reminds me of...things in my own life, things I shouldn't post here because this is a public journal.  Suffice it to say it reminds me of my own experiences.

Am going to copy and paste, put it in Word, and substitute their names for Lily and Severus.  Make a second copy, with my own and whoever else I choose.
