This really shouldn't be so hard for me. (3,667 words)
arrrrrrrgh stupid make-out scenes, stupid inebriation, stupid lack of motivation - I'm breaking all my own rules (they do not need to be under any influences to get it on and it is absolutely NOT one-sided) and I could/should have stopped it long ago but a first-kiss scene was requested. Arrrrrrrgh.

(By the way, it's so funny writing Severus with the new canon. He's a lovesick puppy, and it's IC.)

And I feel like if you feel strongly about a ship, you can always justify it. And to the people bringing it under fire, you've just got to write the most amazing fic you can. They're still going to be bitchy, but you pretty much can't deny great fic.
But anyway, the thing about breaking your own rules...I just meant that it's always good to be pushed outside of your comfort zone. The experience might not be something that works for you, but you never know when something good might come out of it. *g*

It's weird, because normally I don't have a problem justifying their motivations and such...I just haven't adapted yet to the new canon which says they've been friends, even best friends, since they were kids. It still makes me overjoyed that it's true, but it actually makes shipping them harder. They're platonic until Severus gets sucked into his Dark-Arts friends and finally makes an unforgivable mistake, and she's not really wrong for ditching him, though I so wish she hadn't. I never really write AU - I just twist canon as far as I can, heh - but I may have to explore that option more.
Anyway, sorry for the ramble, but it's the first time I've really considered my options for writing more shippy fic since we got the final canon on them.
Oh, true to the pushing comfort zones. I feel like there's so much out there I need to try, writing-wise.
